Desktop Technician Stonehill is a selective Catholic college located near Boston on a beautiful 384-acre campus in Easton, Massachusetts. The Information Technology Department seeks applicants for a Desktop Technician. The Desktop Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, supporting and repairing computer hardware, software and peripherals on a variety of platforms. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Install and configure desktop computer hardware, software and peripherals using standard procedures. · Create and maintain a variety of computer images for Windows and Mac OS systems. · Provide second level support for reported problems with desktop computers, laptops, peripherals, mobile devices and supported software applications including investigating and troubleshooting issues for quick problem resolution. · Provide end user support for faculty, staff and students including consultations and training. · Work with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues. · Evaluate new product versions and recommend upgrade schedules. · Assist in the evaluation of hardware, software, and peripherals for new projects and replacements as necessary. · Respond to technical emergencies outside of normal working hours as needed. · Maintain written operational, configuration, or other procedures including end user documentation. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelors Degree; or one or two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or closely related field is preferred. A minimum of two years of professional experience in an enterprise environment supporting MS Windows OS and related applications is required; supporting MAC OS preferred; a higher education environment preferred. Direct experience with installing and configuring desktop computers and related hardware; installing and configuring operating systems; and installing and configuring application software are required. Familiarity with e-mail, directory and authentication services, file and print management, and desktop hardware and software management is required; experience with MS Exchange, MS Active Directory, and Norton Ghost is preferred. Knowledge of network technologies including DHCP, Internet, TCP/IP, and switching and routing concepts is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a capacity for self-directed learning, an ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional skills will include excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills and the ability to work independently on multiple assignments and to work collaboratively within a team.
