The Director, Business Analytics & Data Mining Services will evaluate and recommend operational solutions to support Institutional Advancement (IA) alumni/development reporting, data management, gift processing and information services. This position will be responsible for data integrity, data quality and data standards training. This includes creating, writing a Raiser's Edge manual and implementing a training program that defines document policies and procedures for data input, data management and data coding. Finally, this position will integrate department systems/programs with Banner system to enhance reporting capabilities. This individual will serve as the IA expert on systems and reporting usage and will process and analyze data from different sources to issue timely and accurate management analyzes. - Provides leadership and strategic direction for the full spectrum of IA reporting:
- Develops computer-based data mining processes and analyses to meet the information needs of IA.
- Interprets stewardship, gift and donor statistical information to develop status reports for IA.
- Researches report requirement needs for department and develops user friendly reports and supporting computer software to aide IA departments in meeting and tracking development goals.
- Establishes a management tracking system that quantitatively documents performance, providing staff members with regular, frequent feedback on performance towards objectives while providing management with effective metrics for program evaluation.
- Oversees IA's information systems:
- Improves the quality, expands the scope and ensures the integrity of its data.
- Identifies and corrects current deficiencies, anticipates and addresses future needs, and capitalizes on new technologies.
- Plans and integrates "best in class" data practices with existing department programs and Banner University system to increase productivity and utilization of reporting and data mining capabilities.
- Establishes and writes procedures manual for all the operations processes. Implements training program on how to fully utilize programs. Offers specialized training when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS - A/BS (or equivalent combination of education and experience) required. Master's degree preferred.
- 5-7 years experience required, computer science, data-mining, accounting or financial background desired.
- 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Experience working with financial statements, financial reporting and program reporting is desired, preferably in an academic or similarly sophisticated setting.
- Experience planning, generating, and evaluating complex reporting is essential.
- Experience with Banner, Raiser's Edge, Crystal Reports and Access is required.
- Strong management and project oversight skills required.
- Ability to integrate strategic and financial goals.
- Strong working knowledge of relational databases, data mining, Excel and Power Point is required.
- Results driven, fast-paced, deadline oriented environment.
