The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a Director, Identity Management, to lead the development of the CSU's Secure Identity Management Infrastructure (SIMI) project. Specifically, the Dir., Identity Management will oversee the development of a campus-sponsored, system-wide policy and technology framework for identity management, as well as the development and/or acquisition and deployment of specific hardware and software tools required to provide electronic directory authentication, authorization and public key infrastructure technologies and services.
Duties: Under general supervision of the Senior Director, Technology Infrastructure Initiatives, the Director, Identity Management's primary responsibility is to provide technical and managerial oversight for the Secure Identity Management Infrastructure (SIMI) project. The Director will guide the activities of CO and campus administrators, staff, and faculty related to the development of a system-wide architecture for secure identity management and as needed, to develop and/or acquire the tools needed to operationalize that architecture; provide strategic architectural and engineering advice related to electronic directories, authentication, authorization, and accountability technology, policy and practice to the Senior Director, TII; and serve as technical liaison between the Chancellor's Office and the CSU campuses.
Requirements: This position requires a Bachelor's degree and ten years progressive experience in IT management; excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and coalitions across groups with diverse interests and viewpoints; advanced understanding of the decision-making process and structure of large, complex, educational institutions like CSU; a deep understanding of important information technology policy issues and trends in higher education, and an ability to articulate this understanding; knowledge of and experience with middleware technologies, functions and applications, development, documentation and implementation; knowledge and understanding of computer and network security issues in higher education, particularly as they relate to middleware; ability to communicate strategies and tactical plans effectively, in written and oral form; knowledge and experience in staff management and motivation and the ability to constructively provide and respond to feedback as needed.
