Description:

The Director, Research and Instructional Technology, provides leadership and guidance in the planning, development and use of advanced information technology including Supercomputing, advnaced Viz. labs to support faculty and students in fulfilling the research, teaching and outreach missions of the university.

• Working with the Provost, the University Librarian and faculty, researches and develops plans, programs and services to enhance the university's mission via the use of advanced technologies
• Directs the effective application of advanced information technology in teaching and learning, which includes recommendations/proposals on building faculty awareness of what is currently possible
• Consults with university research faculty on research designs and parallelization of computer software for supercomputer applications
• Coordinates with faculty on building partnerships with private industry and other educational institutions for the development and use of innovative information technologies
• Ensures that advanced technologies, such as virtualization, are applied to KAUST's business operations where it can provide more effective and efficient IT utilization
• Participates in the leadership and governance of the Office of Information Technology
