Description:

GENERAL PURPOSE:

This is a senior hands-on technical position responsible for providing high quality service to the business units by pro-actively managing and taking ownership of assigned production issues and development projects as assigned by the ERP Systems Manager for Banner Student systems.
This position will be actively involved in new development, gathering requirements, preparing design documents and leading a functional/technical team to implement the solutions. Acting as project manager for medium sized projects, this position will manage the planning and execution of the project to ensure a successful completion.
Understanding the importance of patches and upgrades in an ERP environment, this senior level position will also provide oversight for the maintenance of the Banner production environment including interfaces to other systems and vendor upgrades.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

EXAMPLES OF WORK

Systems analysis and Project Management 40%

1. Work with business units on assigned tasks and using the ERP SDLC methodology solicit user requirements and create clear and concise user requirements documents and obtain consensus from users on the document.
2. Analyze the user requirements document, consult with peers and business users, other network of contacts in the field and other research ERP technology trends to provide a well researched solution using the integrated ERP technologies such as Banner/Luminis/Xtender/ODS/workflow to provide a well architected technology solution that fits into the ERP environment.
3. Create a project plan with level of detail depending on the complexity of the project, to outline tasks and timeline to implement solution. Execute plan
4. As a senior member of the team, provide leadership and recommend strategies to support keeping the ERP environment operating at optimal performance and responsive to current and future needs.
5. Support ERP system upgrades by ensuring thorough testing of new changes as well as existing interfaces etc.
6. Provide Leadership in the group by mentoring junior staff, recommending improvements in processes, promoting a positive and collaborative environment and communicating concerns in a constructive and timely manner.
7. Pro-actively manage and take ownership of assigned productions issues:
• Issue is properly identified
• Thorough analysis to determine the underlying cause of problem
• User departments have been involved
• Involve peers when designing solution.
• Well planned and executed testing strategy.
• Production implementation is well coordinated
• Escalation of issues as needed

Programming and Testing 40%

1. Use expert knowledge of Oracle Concepts, development tools such as Oracle*Developer Suite 10g toolset , SQL Developer and programming languages such as PL/SQL and functions such as stored procedures and triggers to provide complete technical solutions.
2. Using Banner APIS as much as possible to build internal and external interfaces, and support currently developed Banner APIs.
3. Modify seeded Banner reports as needed using Oracle*Developer Suite 10g toolset for modifying Oracle reports.
4. Architect technical solutions using deep understanding of the ERP Banner System technical architecture as well as middle tier integration technologies to ensure all future enhancements or integration solutions are well planned and architected.
5. Diagnose/resolve technical problems independently, articulate and discuss solution with peers in a confident manner with a view to getting input to provide the best solution for USD.
6. Multi task in the fast-paced, production environment to juggle priorities as needed to provide resolution to high profile technical issues.
7. Diagnose performance issues using Banner SQL trace as well as database explain statements and ability to analyze output of these traces.

Supervise and Mentor staff 40%

1. Supervise and mentor junior of ERP analyst programmers
2. Set work schedules, goals and objectives;
3. Develop, recommend, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and work flow
4. Evaluation of new software products or tools

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related discipline.
• Significant professional employment that demonstrates progressive responsibility in information systems, and project leadership.
• Proven track record in developing and implementing strategies and work plans for providing Integrated ERP technology solutions, as well as keeping an ERP environment operating at optimal performance and responsive to future and current needs.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:
• Experience implementing SungardHE Banner System and supporting Banner in a production environment at a Higher Education institution.
• Deep understanding of the Sungard Banner System technical architecture, Banner APIS, INB and self service interfaces as well as Banner middle tier integration.
• Experience in a vendor supported ERP product environment, understanding of how patches and upgrades are handled and supported.
• Expert knowledge of and experience with Oracle development tools such as Oracle*Developer Suite 10g toolset, SQL Developer, including OracleForms, SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures and triggers.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose/resolve technical problems independently and to lead development and implementation of new and complex applications.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical staff as well as non-technical users.
• Clearly demonstrated ability to multi task and work in a collaborative team environment and to work cooperatively with others
