QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
Bachelor's degree. Three years of SMS (Systems Management Server) administration. Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience. Minimum of two years working with Windows Server 2003 and MS SQL Server. Experience packaging software for deployment using SMS. Ability to troubleshoot and tune an SMS environment. Working knowledge of all phases of system development, analysis, design, implementation, training, maintenance, and support in an SMS environment. Demonstrated ability to learn and use relevant programming and scripting languages. Demonstrated ability to work without supervision on everyday tasks and problems. Ability to influence and build team relationships among the IT groups distributed across campus. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Preferred:
SMS Experience managing a diverse desktop environment, including Windows, Mac, and Unix.

JOB DUTIES
The Enterprise SMS Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of a University-wide Systems Management Server (SMS) environment as part of the SMARTcomputing program. Monitor, maintain, and administer the SMARTcomputing SMS site infrastructure and SMARTcomputing Asset Management database, including hardware, network and/or software infrastructure components and their interdependencies. Work with SMARTcomputing Technical Steering Committee and Executive Oversight Committee and SMARTcomputing vendor to define and test base desktop configuration. Oversee creation and handling of baseline configuration and image.
