Geographical Information System (GIS) Analyst

Provides technical support for the University geographical
information system (GIS) Enter and update GIS spatial and
relational data conforming to University GIS
specifications, standards and definitions. Establish
project scopes and schedules for completion of GIS
projects. Provide technical advice to project managers,
architectural and engineering consultants. Work closely
with Facilities departments in the design of major utility
and mapping projects. Coordinate with project managers,
architects, engineers, general contractors, construction
managers and surveyors on all construction projects to
ensure that accurate information is collected and relevant
updates are entered into the GIS. Maintain a GIS training
program to University users. Set up GIS query stations as
needed and instruct personnel in the proper usage of GIS
queries. Make recommendations to the GIS Administrator on
enhancing GIS capabilities. Act as technical contact point
for vendors providing GIS hardware and software products.
Position requires a B.A. or B.S. degree in related field or
equivalent experience. Demonstrated technical competence
in the following hardware and software - Intel platform;
Windows NT 4.0; Oracle database; HTML; AutoDesk Suite
including AutoCad and MapGuide or equivalent. Technical
qualities required to maintain a client/server environment.
Five years in administrating computing. Strong
communication skills and the ability to train individuals.
Demonstrated technical competence in internet and intranet
environment and technical competence in wide and local area
networks is preferred. Familiarity with University and
Facilities setting would be an asset. Please submit 2
