Description:

The Marketing Manager for Higher Education will define the marketing strategies and tactics for the US Higher Education market. This individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining a deep understanding of the target market and collaborating with cross-functional team members to develop an integrated marketing plan designed to build awareness and create market demand to meet aggressive growth goals.

The marketing manager will also be responsible for supporting sales and product management by bringing the market expertise to drive product, promotion, and pricing strategies. The qualified candidate will focus on bringing a disciplined approach to marketing to the organization through the use of market research, industry expertise, and market data. This individual will be responsible for working closely with internal and external stakeholders to bring together the best thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute on market strategy, annual marketing plan, and budget
  • Represent eInstruction at industry events and trade shows
  • Conduct customer understanding to guide our market and product strategy, product positioning
  • Develop relationships with key influencers in higher education
  • Create partnerships with key higher ed associations and organizations
  • Support the needs of our sales team by soliciting their feedback, developing a comprehensive understanding of their needs, and creating effective sales tools
  • Track trends in the market place and uncover new opportunities
  • Understand the unique communications necessary for each higher ed audience and work with marketing communications to execute.
  • Lead the creation of all pricing and promotion strategies.
  • Track performance of marketing campaigns through measurement and analysis to understand effectiveness and ROI.
  • Obtain in-depth understanding of the company business plans and strategies.
  • Provide feedback and direction for future products, programs, and campaigns.
  • Provide timely and accurate communication to internal and external stakeholders to ensure awareness of and participation in all marketing activities.
  • Collaborate with marketing communications, sales, product management and various functional departments.

Requirements

  • BS or BA degree in business or marketing and a minimum of 5 years in marketing management experience required; MBA/MS a plus.
  • Experience marketing to the Higher Ed market is a must
  • The successful candidate should have a proven track record in leading the marketing mix of a fast growth business with a focus on measurement, analytics, and continual improvement.
  • Experience with and understanding on how to leverage market research and business analytics
  • Proven success in creating lead-generating marketing programs that include but are not limited to direct mail, email, seminars, trade shows, social media, events, viral, and on-line campaigns.
  • Must have experience developing and managing a budget and understanding financial implications of marketing efforts.
  • Experience managing strategic projects, ability to understand big picture.
  • Strong creative and analytical skills to design marketing communications program strategy, messaging, and themes.
  • Proven track record of success in growing and defending the business in a competitive environment.
  • Ability to form strong collaborative relationships with sales team, partners, customers, and marketing and product management colleagues.
  • Ability to stay on top of many tasks at once, set clear deliverables, execute on-time and within budget, and inform others of results.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Highly creative and able to develop new marketing strategies and programs
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible in fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize based on business impact
