The Information Technology Department of Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas is seeking a motivated, talented individual to join us as a full-time IT Manager – User Services.

 
Job Summary
Responsible for leadership and management of a team of IT professionals delivering technical support and service to University technology users. The Manager will create a collaborative, supportive leadership style that inspires focus on institutional services, and a professional technical support culture within the team. Manages and directs technical staff toward timely and efficient completion of work orders within the system. Works cooperatively with other IT managers and the Director toward providing a thorough system and service to technology users.
 
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
Work Experience: 5-10 years technical experience; 3 years management experience. Established technical background. Experience leading and working with a technical team. Small college environment experience preferred.
 
Required Skills and Abilities:  
  • Proven record of meeting project goals and deadlines
  • Must possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills necessary to maintain and build relationships and collaborative partnerships
  • Ability to independently identify, prioritize and troubleshoot desktop issues
  • Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft OS applications including server (2003 – 2008) and desktop environments.
  • Support exposure to Active Directory, Exchange 2003+, networking technologies, antivirus and spam blocking technologies. Must have working knowledge of basic telephony.
  • Data gathering and ability to drill down into specific IT operations root cause analysis, ability to proactively recommend effective courses of action, communicate resolution, policy and procedures to the various IT stakeholders, management and end user population.
  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented and capable of multi-tasking
  • Coordinates complex interactions with multiple work groups
