REQUIRED: A combination of education and experience equivalent to the following: A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business, or a related field. Three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in application programming, testing, analysis and design using: HTML/CSS, VBScript or Java Script, Visual Basic or ASP, J2EE (POJOS, Servlets, JSP, Ant), MVC (or other design patterns), and T-SQL or PL-SQL. Competency in relational databases such as SQL Server or Oracle. Experience in application systems analysis, design, conversion, and implementation of large client-server or Web systems. Excellent verbal and written customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
DESIRED: Experience working in a team-oriented environment. Experience in project management including planning and leading small to moderate size projects. Java development experience using: AJAX, CVS, Eclipse, EJB, Grinder, Hibernate, Java Persistence API, JBoss (or equivalent), Struts, JUnit, Spring, UML, XML, or XSLT. Familiarity with accessibility, usability, and secure coding issues. Experience in application problem investigation and resolution. Application support experience in a multi-programmer environment. Experience in writing database stored procedures and using parameterized SQL. familiarity with AIS D6501 or AIS Sentinel security systems.
BASIC FUNCTION: Analyze, design, develop, test, implement, document, and modify complex computer programs involving PC-based and Web systems. Participate in client and peer consultations and system design evaluations. Train and mentor peers to analyze, design, program and test computer systems. Assist and train clients to identify system requirements and solutions across multiple platforms. Lead application development projects of small to moderate size, including creating project plans, project scope, cost estimates, coordinating activities of programmers and customers, and managing project tasks and resources. Typical work hours are 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Description of Duties
Information Technologist I (AP12)
(Systems Analyst I)

#1 20% Analyze client needs and design entire new computer application systems or enhancements to existing systems, which effectively and efficiently meets the needs of both the client and the larger university community. Prepare system specification documents or other technical documents for others to work from or refer to later.

#2 15% Meet independently with assigned clients to identify their functional requirements for complex computer systems.

#3 15% Lead application development projects of moderate size - including the development of project plans and cost estimates to assist in the timely and cost-effective implementation of systems/enhancements, as well as daily coordination of activities.

#4 15% Identify and conduct necessary tests to determine that systems work as intended.

#5 10% Develop and implement systems or components either alone or as part of a team of programmers and analysts.

#6 10% Train co-workers (regular staff or student employees) on new technologies
(Sharing knowledge within the team)

#7 5% Train client and internal staff in the use and support of new or enhanced systems.

#8 5% Develop client documentation explaining how the system/enhancement operates from a functional perspective

#9 5% Participate in team and departmental activities to review and improve internal processes, prepare for anticipated needs, coordinate departmental activities, etc.
