Description:

In consultation with the Associate Director, work collaboratively with Simmons faculty, staff, team members, and students to design and develop technology-based educational learning experiences and materials that enhance student learning. The person in this position plays a key role in the creation and coordination of institutes and other events for faculty professional development. This person also provides faculty and teaching staff with the pedagogical consultation, instructional design support, and software instruction needed to develop effective blended, online, and technology-enhanced courses. The ability to work well with colleagues who have differing skills and abilities is essential, as projects often involve collaboration with instructional technologists and other production staff. In order to better understand the needs and perspective of Simmons faculty and teaching staff, this person is expected to teach one course or course module each year.

Ideal candidates will have the following education and experience:

  • Advanced degree, preferably in education or instructional design (Ph.D. preferred, Master's required)
  • College teaching experience (online/blended preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Online/blended course development experience
  • Experience designing and implementing faculty development programs
  • Experience with emerging technologies (e.g. Twitter, Voicethreads, podcasting)
  • Experience with assessment, evaluation, and educational research methodologies
