The University of Northern Colorado's Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL), whose mission is to provide faculty with the strategies, self-development, and support for effective teaching, requires an instructor for the Learning Management System (LMS) to carry out training and support for faculty, particularly those using web-based applications in classrooms, online classes, and in hybrid environments. The Instructional LMS Leader: · Provides faculty training on the use of the LMS and applications that integrate with the LMS. · Serves as an instructional support resource for faculty developing web-based courses, assisting with course enhancement through use of applications that integrate with the LMS. · Advises on proper LMS tool use and implementation in the classroom. · Serves in a supportive and exploratory role (see collaborations below) for departments and individual faculty desiring assessment tools that serve to improve teaching and student learning. · Supports the instructional and proper use of applications and conducts training on strategies and tools that integrate with the LMS, such as Wimba, Blogs, Wikis and course capturing technologies. · Is responsible for the research and updating of teaching strategies using the LMS, as well as supporting the use of emerging technologies for web-based systems. · Collaborates with o The Office of Extended Studies to support their outreach efforts o The CETL Coordinator of Faculty Development and the Director of Assessment o Information Technology who manages and maintains the LMS non-instructional operations o Other CETL instructional designers to promote sound pedagogical principles and teaching methods · Supports faculty course development through training and advisement across all colleges using web-based (and technology-enhanced) teaching, excluding online programs offered through Extended Studies. · Supports academic units, particularly those promoting teaching and learning scholarship and research, by offering effective models and strategies for success: For example, the National Science foundation grant for the Math Teaching Learning Center collaboration with University of Wyoming. · Provides training and support for non-academic campus units that use web-based applications and technology enhanced methods to promote more effective productivity. · Partners with IT to test and implement current and future online learning systems and applications which integrate with those systems and teams with IT to negotiate with the LMS vendor to promote academic integrity via the instructional perspective. · Advises Information Technology staff on faculty needs and practices in the online learning environment. The Instructional Leader for the LMS possesses a minimum of a master’s degree in education, instructional design, educational technology, or closely related field and demonstrated experience in training and/or teaching, and technology applications in the enhancement of teaching and learning. A demonstrated knowledge of effective pedagogy in a variety of teaching formats and experience with an LMS (preferably Blackboard) is required. This position requires highly developed teamwork and communication skills and an ability to work across units to create high performing collaborations.
