Description:

SunGard Higher Education (SGHE), a global leader in information solutions and services for higher education, is searching for a SOA integration architect (or solution architect) to join our Systems Integration consulting practice. SunGard Higher Education provides consulting services to implement integration between SunGard Higher Education's Unified Digital Campus (UDC) products with an institution’s disperse systems into a unique unified digital campus.

This consulting position is responsible for analyzing, designing and implementing solutions that leverage SOA along with educating schools on how to use and maintain themselves. Further, the position requires the ability to support, coordinate and deliver systems integration services associated with the integration between SunGard Higher Education's ERP and Portal products to other third party applications. This resource will work directly with client IT project teams and other SunGard Higher Education consultants. Ability to interface and collaborate with technical and functional users will be a critical success factor.

The successful candidate will have experience in being a software developer / programmer / engineer using XML, Java and Oracle PL/SQL who would have implemented data synchronization technologies like APIs, Web Services, JMS messaging and other integration tools. This candidate will not be scared to roll up his or her sleeves to learn and implement diverse technologies and wear multiple hats in helping grow and form a maturing practice. Candidate should know how to design solutions using middleware integration technologies such as Enterprise Service Bus, Business Rules Engine, Business Process Execution Language, Business Activity Monitoring, ETL tools and/or Web Services Management.

An understanding of identity and access management problems and solutions a plus.

Another key element of this position is to support the SunGard Higher Education team in building the client relationship and fostering value-added interaction to extend that relationship and grow the business with product knowledge sharing and recommended solutions.

This consultant will need to bring enough experience to the table to recommend best practices, tools and templates to use when for different system integration problems to solve.

This is an ideal role for someone who has been a system integration or solution lead/architect in another industry who would be excited to apply this knowledge to harvest best practices, lead new initiatives and become a thought leader in the area of systems integration for higher education.

Education:
Computer Science or equivalent experience

Location:
Anywhere in the US (Dallas and Philadelphia preferred)

Candidate will need to be willing to travel 50-75%.

Position Requirements:
• 10+ years of system integration and/or solution consulting experience in a complex IT environment.
• Ability to work with the undefined and unexpected in client-facing situations
• Knowledge of "best practices" and current research in the use of EAI, SOA tools, architectures and patterns, and other integration technology
• Ability to work independently, manage expectations and provide effective issue resolution
• May sometimes work as an independent contributor, and sometimes leading a team of a few consultants
• Software development in Java/J2EE
• Designed and delivered SOA solutions utilizing ESB and BPEL / BPMN technologies
• Use case development, interaction diagramming and UML design
• Demonstrated commitment to quality and project success
• Oracle PL/SQL experience
• Spring/Ant/Maven/CVS/SVN hands on experience
• XML knowledge
• Quality Assurance
• Collaboration with diverse people, processes and technology
• Strong verbal and written communication
• API design and development
• Web Service development
• Understands different types of application data synchronization – batch, real time, event driven, message driven, SOA
• Comfortable presenting
• Attention to detail
• Proven ability to plan and execute projects on time and within budget

Desired Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
• Familiar with Business Process Analysis, Project Management and Enterprise Architecture methodologies so to understand how to define and differentiate the delivery of an Integration Architect versus Project Manager, Enterprise Architect and Business Analyst
• Understand the role of an Integration Architect with respect to defining the information architecture and application architecture for a complex ERP/Portal implementation
• Experience in Quality Assurance
• Identity Management technology knowledge (SPML, DSML) for integrating third party enterprise Identity Management solutions (Microsoft ILM, Novell, Sun, Oracle)
• Understands different types of application data synchronization, portal integration and business process orchestration process orchestration
• Higher Education experience, specifically Banner and other SunGard Higher Education products
• SunGard Higher Education Functional Product Knowledge
• Well rounded knowledge in all areas of institutional functionality
• Experience with ERP and/or complex software implementation projects
• Process improvement/re-engineering
• Interest in growing skills within the domain systems integration/service-oriented architecture
