LINUX SYSTEM ADMNISTRATOR (Information Technology Specialist II) (#00506A)
Information Technology.

Responsible for system administration of highly available UNIX (Linux, HP-UX and Solaris) servers utilized by the campus ERP, course management, database, web and other production systems. Work Hours: Some evening and/or weekend work may be required. Must be available on rotating basis for emergency call-in.

QUALIFICATIONS: Considerable experience as a UNIX system administrator of Red Hat Linux, HP-UX and/or Solaris systems in an enterprise environment. Experience installing, configuring and supporting clustered systems, DNS, Apache, PHP, and Tomcat. Ability to develop programs (Perl, UNIX shell, Java, PHP, ASP) to manage systems. Knowledge of Active Directory, Windows, TCP/IP networking, firewalls and storage area networks. Working knowledge of VMware or other virtualization technologies a plus. Demonstrated ability to think logically and solve problems in a fast paced environment; ability to communicate technical issues effectively orally and in writing. Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or combination of education, training, and working knowledge comparable to a bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
