Position Description:



Plan, manage and administer the ITS Workstation Support program ,including full
responsibility for developing and managing WSSstaff and services; provide
guidance and leadership to WSS; and work with other ACS staff and academic
departments to develop departmental IT support plans.

Essential duties of position
1. Recruit, train, manage and administer UNIX and NT technical professionals
providing service and support to academic departments. Provide technical
leadership with focus on staff development. Track service and performance
and work with staff to meet client needs and service standards.
2. Develop, administer and publish a campus-wide program of recommended Unix
and NT standards. Work with departments to develop local plans and standards
for support of technical workstations in academic and research settings.
3. Provide senior technical guidance in Unix or NT.
4. Develop and manage a budget including some fee-for-service income.

Experience and training
Bachelor's degree with five to seven years experience in a technical workstation
or similar environment or an equiv combination of education and experience.
Two years supervisory experience.

Skills and abilities
1. Detailed knowledge of a Unix or Windows NT operating system.
2. Service-minded and self motivated.
3. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, project management, and managerial
skills.
4. Ability to work in and lead teams including those which cross organizational
boundaries. Strong administrative skills (e.g., managing an entrepreneurial
unit). Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
