Department: Information Technology & Resources Title Position Reports To: Chief Information Officer JOB SUMMARY: The Manager of Web Services is responsible for the University’s web applications, including the integration of eCampus applications into Adelphi web sites. He/she will provide expertise in the analysis, design, development, testing and deployment of a web-central service architecture where information is secured and can be easily located. The individual is also responsible for the setup and optimization of the Oracle relational databases supporting online transactions. Furthermore, this individual will work closely with campus technology committees, academic and administrative departments in assessing and implementing web services that are outlined in the University’s 3-year Technology Plan. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: - Oversee the integration of all the University’s web-based applications into eCampus web portal, including the development of Oracle Portlets for Blackboard, Degree Audit, GroupWise, CLASS, Online Budget and Purchasing, ALICAT, etc.
- Implement a secured data access infrastructure that includes functions such as user authentication, group management, and single sign-on.
- Work with academic and administrative departments to assess their needs and assist them in evaluating and implementing new cutting-edge web-based applications and processes to streamline the services.
- Represent the University as the web technical advisor in working with business partners such as Alcatel, CampusEAI and Oracle in implementing emergent web technology - unified messaging services, IP Telephony, PDA/Smart phone interfaces, and online media services.
- Work closely with Public Affairs and the Web Editor to ensure the web applications are consistent with the University’s web design guidelines.
- Work with Student Government Association (SGA) and student groups in enhancing online student services such as online SGA election, online music services, BLOG, etc.
- Provide technical support and ensure the smooth operation of the University’s eCampus portal web site.
- Document, train and promote the use of eCampus portal and online web applications.
- Work with Network and Systems team to ensure eCampus is in compliance with the University’s security infrastructure as well as the backup/recovery procedures.
- Compile usage statistics from the Homepage and eCampus and provide the information to the management for planning and strategic support.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Director.

REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of four year’s experience in Oracle Application and Database servers utilizing Web and Unix programming. Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, Cascading Style sheets, PHP, Apache web server, Perl and Unix; and the ability to incorporate new technologies, e.g. XML. Ability to work in a collaborative environment with graphic artists, Web Editor and project managers as well as with faculty, staff, and students. Excellent verbal and written skills. Higher education experience is highly desirable.
