Description:

Information Technology's - Technical Services department is seeking an experienced Network Manager for the Network Services Team. The Network Services team is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and operation of the James Madison University enterprise data network, and is currently comprised of four technical (network engineering) staff.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Functional and administrative management of the Network Services technology professionals;
- Developing and executing long-term strategies while driving tactical projects;
- Serving as project lead for installation of network systems and solutions, to include functional leading and coordinating of staff, vendors, and subcontractors;
- Producing and analyzing key performance metrics to ensure that Network Services is delivering service in accordance with established service level agreements;
- Engaging and supporting stakeholders in a strategic capacity by identifying opportunities to enhance operational performance;
- Conducting periodic planning and operational meetings with all levels of management.

Applicants are required to have considerable experience (typically 7+ years) supporting data communication infrastructure and knowledge and experience (5-7 years) in organizational leadership, management and personnel supervision.
Large project leadership experience, strong communication skills, and possess excellent vendor management skills. The candidate must also be customer service oriented to work with all infrastructure, application development and business users. The applicant is required to have a solid working knowledge of data networking infrastructure including communications, network topology and a good understanding of carrier networks. Also required is a strong knowledge of routing, switch, and firewall hardware, and network troubleshooting & optimization tools ( Packeteer, HP Openview ). Familiarity with network security, backup technologies, SANS, VLans, Cisco load balancers, and VPN appliances.

Salary Range: $51,452 to $63,000
