PROGRAMMER / ANALYST - SPECIALIST

 

Position Description:

The University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC) is currently seeking a full time IT professional to join the UMKC Data Warehouse.  Working with UMKC’s Data Architect, the Programmer/Analyst – Specialist enhances the use of available data by creating reports specific to end user business needs.  Also provides support to other campus report developers in the use of the tool and accessing data needed for their needs.

The ideal candidate will serve as the primary report author for UMKC’s Division of University Advancement, and will help to form a collaborative working relationship between the Data Warehouse and Advancement Services.

Qualifications:

Required:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or related field

·         3 – 5 years working knowledge of database structures, programming knowledge, SQL based data base knowledge

·         3 – 5 years experience in extracting data using operational systems, data analysis and report writing

Preferred

·         Demonstrated knowledge of IBM Cognos Report Studio and Cognos Business Intelligence

·         Demonstrated ability to analyze tables, understand table structures and relationships to gain an understanding of the information within the tables, while quickly being able to put the information with the context of the business to gain a stronger understanding of the data by questioning business owners.

·         Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written.

·         Prior work experience in a Higher Education setting

·         Prior work experience in a gift-giving/donation setting

·         Ability to work independently.

Additional Information:

Starting Salary Range: $42, 000 - $52,000

Shift: Monday – Friday (8AM – 5PM)

Review Begins: November 19th, 2009

Anticipated State Date: December 14th, 2009 (Date Flexible)
