The Senior Analyst/ Programmer will work as part of a team providing programming and project support for an Oracle-based integrated suite of administrative software, SunGard Higher Education Banner system. The position will identify and analyze user needs and then develop and implement effective solutions tailored to the specific situation, and be responsible for complex projects. Some weekend and/or evening hours might be required. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: 1. Develop and/or integrate software solutions, including documentation and support. 2. Consult with various college departments and users to further integrate SunGard Banner functionality and improve related business processes. 3. Provide support to end users including testing of software patches and releases. 4. Diagnose data/reporting issues. 5. Assist in the development/maintenance of an institutional data warehouse. 6. Develop custom reports for the functional areas. 7. Collaborate with campus-wide analyst/programmers to ensure alignment and compliance of standards for software tools. 8. Work closely with the Information Systems staff on technical implementation issues. 9. Assist with the integration development of SharePoint, Banner, and other college applications. 10. Assist in user support and training activities. 11. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and standards in order to identify areas for future development or enhancement. 12. Serve as Project Leader for more complex projects as assigned. 13. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field required with a minimum of eight years experience in programming, or the equivalent in education and experience in demonstrated expertise. Advanced working skills with relational database technologies and structured query language required. Experience with HTML, XML, and the Microsoft .NET technologies is preferred and experience in C and Cobol is a plus. Working knowledge of UNIX and Windows operating systems. Advance knowledge of higher education administrative systems (i.e. Sungard Banner) is also a plus. Ability to interface with Word, Excel, and Access required. Requires experience in writing functional specifications. Must be able to be responsive to customer needs and organize projects. Requires strong communications and critical thinking skills; a self-motivator, an appreciation for working with diverse individuals, and an interest in lifelong learning. Must be committed to the mission of a two-year college. |
