Major/ Essential Duties of Job:  IT Consulting: Consult and work directly with faculty, graduate teaching fellows, and staff to provide instructional consultation and support. (Work with customers on analysis, design and development of online learning materials.) Provide training to customers on the advanced use of complex widely used applications and/or various complex specialized software applications. Conduct professional development sessions in the use of educational technology tools and strategies to support teaching and learning. Research complex problems and recommends solutions for customers. Advise and educate customers on complex computing procedures. Provide technical guidance for the development and maintenance of printed and web-based software application information for customer use. Review and recommend for use, new technologies related to learning in general and to online learning in particular. May provide routine hardware operation and maintenance, and software installation/maintenance on various operating systems. Perform all or some of the specialized duties of an Information Technology Consultant. Other duties as required.

Occasional Duties: Core Duties: May coordinate the technical activities of a small project team. Assist and mentor other employees in resolving various issues. Participate with management personnel in planning, direction, and coordinating operational and/or procedural matters to meet goals and objectives. May produce reports and summaries for management and/or users including status reports, problem reports, progress summaries, and system utilization reports. Participate in training and professional development sessions. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of experience may substitute for one year of education. Three years of information technology consulting experience. Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment. REQUIRED special knowledge, abilities, and skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office 2007, Microsoft Windows, MS Outlook, Mac OS; basic knowledge of HTML; knowledge of sound instructional design principles. Must have strong interpersonal skills. Must have excellent communication skills. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education and Experience: Degree preferably in instructional technology and education. Experience, training or education in best practices for instructional design and technology-mediated instruction. Postsecondary teaching experience or previous work experience supporting faculty. Experience using WebCT or Blackboard as a teacher or system administrator. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. PREFERRED: Knowledge of software and hardware for creating web-delivered content and multi-media materials, including text, video, slide, photograph, and sound recordings in various formats; aware of trends and challenges of multi-media technology.
