Bard Information Technology Services at Bard College is seeking a Systems Administrator, reporting to Chief Technology Officer/ Associate Dean of Information Services. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the maintenance of multiple operating systems including Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X, on multiple hardware platforms. Active participation in information security projects is expected as will participation in the development of schedules, priorities, and determination of time lines and resources; preparation of reports and summaries for management and/or users; lead and/or participation in multiple projects in accordance with institutional and departmental goals and priorities and other duties as required. The Systems Administrator will need to be able to resolve problems in all phases of systems management while working under minimal supervision and may act as the primary technical support channel for specific program/department applications and systems.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of three or more years experience in systems administration, including an extensive, current working knowledge of Windows 2003 Server and Active Directory with superior troubleshooting skills. Proven experience with other operating systems such as Unix and Linux; familiarity with server and workstation support imaging with remote deployment of updates and anti-malware is important. In addition, a working knowledge of IP networking is expected. Experience in scripting and system automation using languages such as Perl or Python and a familiarity with LDAP is preferred. Some familiarity with educational applications and tools such as SunGard Banner, Oracle, MySQL, Blackboard, Moodle, Xythos, groupware, web based productivity applications, and open source solutions is desirable.
