Carnegie Mellon University's Computing Services Desktop Support Program is searching for a Technology Consultant to provide advanced technology consulting to the faculty and staff of the University. Carnegie Mellon's Desktop Support Program is one of the best in the country and is searching for the brightest and best talent for its program. This individual should be highly skilled in computer support for PC and Macintosh computer platforms. Advanced skills in Microsoft networking, file services, active directory, and group policy are necessary from the applicant. They should also be skilled in business applications such as financial, student, and human resource systems. Advanced skills in scripting languages and/or programming are recommended such as VB Script, WMI, JavaScript, HTML, and SQL. Desktop and Network Security are required. This person also must have superb communication skills as they will be coordinating and collaborating with various groups on campus including Executive Management and Senior Faculty. They also must be able to work under pressure, meet inflexible deadlines, deal with difficult individual while maintaining composure, and work with frequent interruptions. After hours and weekend work may be required. Bachelor's Degree suggested with specialization in a Technology or Technology Related field. Additional certifications including MCSE, A+, or others will be considered a plus. Experience in Academic or Consulting setting preferred.
