Position Type - Casual Hourly Range - $31.02 to $40.03 per hr Hours 35 per wk This position has an expected start date of August 17 and end date of October 31, 2010. (Maternity leave) The Tech PD facilitator position is an integral part of a team that provides assistance for instructors, support staff, and graduate students in the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into teaching, research, administration, and/or other professional work. The Tech PD facilitator must have a high level of ICT technical knowledge, with very strong skills in an extensive range of application and educational software and various specialized hardware tools. Tech PD facilitators also must have a broad background in education, familiarity with the research literature on ICT in education, and significant practical experience in applying technology to teaching, learning, research, and administration. A theoretical understanding of and practical experience in applying modern teaching strategies including constructivist, student-centered, active, and problem-based learning approaches is necessary. Duties * Develop and deliver professional development and training to faculty/instructors, administrators, graduate students and support staff. * Design appropriate documentation and online materials for workshops, seminars, and one on one consultations * Coach individual faculty members to develop instructional and evaluation skills related to technology. * Support faculty in the development and design of distance delivery courses including online delivery, blended delivery and videoconferencing * Administration and technical support of the Faculty of Education's LMS (Blackboard) and Elluminate Live! for instructors * Troubleshoot technical issues software and hardware issues related to Tech PD training * Provide instructors a pedagogical framework to drive course design decisions and promote the "best practices" of ICT integration * Provide consultation and support faculty in the instructional design process (needs assessment, content analysis, task analysis, evaluation etc.) * Provide consultation and support faculty to integrate new technologies into their teaching Qualifications * A minimum of a Masters degree in an area relevant to education or educational technology (comparable to the University of Alberta MEd/Instructional Technology degree) is preferred. * The successful candidate should also have a minimum of two years experience working as an Educational Technology Professional and two years experience teaching OR five years experience integrating ICT in education as an instructor. * Experience teaching with educational technology such as interactive white boards, student response systems, and web 2.0 tools such as wikis and blogs is an asset.
