Duties And Responsibilities: Responsible for general Unix systems administration including installation, configuration, operations, and maintenance of software and networked servers; systems diagnostics and troubleshooting including analysis of ongoing performance, system slowdowns and bottlenecks; system/network interaction; and specification, design and follow through on system projects, such as account management and user support application and systems administration utilities. Respond to systems security issues including authentication, authorization, and secure access. Collaborate with user services, network, and project development groups in FAS Computer Services and other System Administrators around campus. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Required Education, Experience and Skills Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or degree with commensurate experience. 5 years professional experience. Must possess a strong background in Unix server administration. Experience in account administration, scripting languages, SQL-Plus, IIS, Apache, and SAN (Storage Area Network) technologies. May require some lifting (50 lbs. or more).
