Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: This position's primary responsibility is to plan, install, and support the Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS). As time is available, the position may also plan, install, and support other college systems and hardware primarily run on SUN Solaris and Linux platforms.

EDUCATION : Associate degree in a computer-related field with additional documented computer coursework or certification such as SUN SE is required. Bachelor's degree is highly desirable.

EXPERIENCE:
Required Experience and Skills:
• Four or more years of in-depth experience with UNIX/Linux systems, primarily in Sun Solaris/Sparc/Red Hat environment
• In-depth experience with Solaris/Linux OS installation, administration, UNIX network administration, UNIX security management, Sparc/Intel hardware installation and support, and third-party applications support on UNIX systems
• UNIX storage administration experience using RAID arrays and backup/recovery installation and administration using Veritax Netbackup
• Experience with Java application servers/web servers
• Three or more years recent experience working with Oracle 9i/10g database
• DNS and DHCP installation and administration, Shell scripting, and Perl scripting
• Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously, follow priorities and meet deadlines
• Excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated use of initiative and organizational abilities.
• Ability and willingness to travel

Desired Experience and Skills:
• Linux installation and administration
• Installation and administration experience with apache web server, open source mail server, BIND, Open LDAP, SUN One LDAP, SSH, Rsync, SSL, and general experience with open source tools.
• Programming experience with open source tools
• Exposure to Storage Area Networks (SAN)
• Experience with Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) library cataloging systems such as Voyager, Blackboard, R-25 room scheduling, and SunGard SCT's Luminis portal and Banner applications.
