Appalachian State University (Appalachian) seeks an accomplished and creative professional to lead it to a new level of fund-raising success. The vice chancellor will articulate the University's mission and vision to develop and nurture relationships with alumni, friends, corporations and foundations to foster goodwill, maximize financial support and strengthen the reputation of Appalachian State University. The vice chancellor will serve as president of the Appalachian State University Foundation Inc., and will oversee all of the University's fund raising, alumni relations and cultural affairs programs.
Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northwestern North Carolina, Appalachian State University has built a national reputation for providing outstanding academics. Appalachian's student/faculty ratio of 19:1 allows faculty members to take a personal interest in student progress, often becoming mentors, advisers and friends. Appalachian is part of the University of North Carolina system, with over 15,000 students and ranks 5th among the South's top public universities and 12th among the South's public and private universities in U.S. News & World Report's 2007 America's Best Colleges Guide.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in developing, leading and managing a breadth of advancement programs, recruiting and managing staff, overseeing a capital campaign and building collegial and productive internal and external relationships in a similar setting. A bachelor's degree is required.
