Description:

Duties And ResponsibilitiesWorking within the Academic Technology Group (http://atg.fas.harvard.edu) collaboratively develops and maintains custom platforms for technology-enhanced teaching, learning and academic work flow and offers year-round training and consulting for faculty and teaching staff within Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. This developer is part of an innovative technical design and development team that creates and maintains web-based applications in support of teaching, learning and academic workflow. The position participates in the analysis, design, programming, and testing of new multimedia applications in a UNIX environment, primarily using Flash and/or Flex as a development tool. The position also is responsible for the user interface design of all of our applications. It assists in maintaining and enhancing our technical infrastructure and works closely with system administrators and other developers to help maintain and debug existing applications.
Basic Qualifications5+ years in web design and/or development, with 1+ years in Flash development, and an emphasis on user interface design.
Additional QualificationsBachelors Degree in computer science or equivalent demonstrated experience, demonstrated expertise in Flash and/or Flex and ActionScript. A portfolio demonstrating UI design is preferred. Excellent oral and written communications skills. High degree of commitment to collaboration and work within a distinctly team-oriented environment. Experience with databases and SQL, preferably in an Oracle environment, a plus. Experience with Flash Media Server a plus. Familiarity with Perl or other languages used for web application development (PHP, Ruby, Python, ASP, etc.) also a plus
