SALARY: $49,714 GRADE: C43

POSITION SUMMARY: The Pima Community College Data Center architecture consists of more than 100 UNIX servers as well as numerous Microsoft servers. This includes database servers, web servers, load balancers, tape libraries and a SAN. The enterprise learning systems in use at the College are WebCT and Luminis. These systems provide course materials for entirely online courses or as classroom supplements. The systems are expected to be highly available.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform administration of the WebCT system; perform backups, patches and upgrades to various enterprise applications; UNIX operating system upgrades and maintenance; systems performance analysis; coordinate maintenance with campus administrators and faculty; maintain proper documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of: Expert level systems administration principles, WebCT 4.1 administration, Unix/Linux system administration; systems performance and tuning; hardware and systems architecture; leadership and project management principles; firewall and security principles; verbal and written communication skills; complex problem solving.

Ability to: Perform advanced role in systems administration, systems architecture, installation, configuration, tuning and project management. Evaluate complex problems; conceptualize, architect and design hardware and software systems; communicate verbally and in writing; assimilate new and high level technologies; work with and lead vendors and consultants; lead technical teams; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all persons within a diverse, multi-cultural community.

Experience, Education and Licensing: Bachelor's Degree in related field and two years appropriate technical experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
