Description:

Information Technology Services (ITS) at Ithaca College is seeking applications for a Web and eMedia Developer. This position will provide a variety of Web application design and development services as part of the college's Web team.

The successful candidate will work as an integral part of our web development team, which is responsible for the college's public facing web sites and services including the design and content management systems that drive www.Ithaca.edu, websites that provide services to the college community, and systems that assist in business processes.   The successful candidate will put their talents to work developing and working on database-driven web applications, assisting in writing technical specifications, and designing and implementing web sites' UI and graphics.

Required qualifications: bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical area, or the equivalent in education and experience as illustrated by portfolio; two or more years experience in designing and developing rich, visually compelling web content and application user interface designs using Adobe Photoshop or Fireworks (as demonstrated by portfolio) and the ability to fully implement those designs using standards-based technologies including XHTML, javascript, and CSS taking into consideration browser and platform compatibility.  Expertise in writing dynamic web interfaces using PHP and integrating with mySQL (or similar) database.  Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team of developers and independently; ability to help develop specifications for web projects; the ability to work well with predefined, detailed technical/functional specifications or non-technical functional specifications; attention to detail; ability to work quickly and accurately under deadlines; and strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication and organizational skills.

Desired: Experience working in a SOA environment and the development of interfaces driven by XML and/or JSON web services; experience working with JSP in a tomcat environment; experience with AJAX; a detailed understanding of usability, and accessibility of websites.
