Abstract:Web single sign-on (SSO) technology can simplify the user experience and improve Web security. But most software is limited to use within a campus, doesn't provision applications with identity-related authorization information, and can't be leveraged to access online services external to your institution. The Shibboleth System, an open source Web SSO/federating package, is an exception. This seminar will provide a brief introduction to Web SSO and Shibboleth technology and related management issues and present the typical three-stage approach to implementation. This seminar is supported by the NMI-EDIT Consortium of EDUCAUSE and Internet2.
