| Abstract: | Driven by the need to reduce costs and to provide dependable data delivery and protection, the cloud storage pay-as-you-go service model offers information technology a new way to avoid building out expensive and complex storage infrastructures. Although it is not applicable to every storage need, cloud storage offers a way to move the complexity and management burden to a center of competence -- either inside or outside an IT organization's data center. Multiple service models are available, from simple infrastructure to full-blown archiving systems.
