Abstract:

Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Web content management system (CMS) initiative is a collaborative project of the Office of CIO and Office of Marketing and Communications focused on making improvements associated with branding consistency, ease of use, and content management.

Objectives associated with creating consistent look: - brand the BGSU Web site as a marketing component, which includes color schemes, taglines and consistency of message - improve navigation, making it easier for the key audiences to find what they are looking for, particularly initial visitors to the site such as prospective students and parents

Objectives associated with improving content management: - provide a mechanism for timely updating and maintaining accurate information - ease of use for technical and non-technical expertise associated with managing and publishing content - increase the ability for shared support - improve capacity to recover lost data - improve version control for CMS - reduce duplication of effort by providing an automated system for sharing content - provide flexible workflow for approval of changes to content
