Abstract:The future deployment of IP-Enabled applications and services is under intense scrutiny, as federal law enforcement and industry maneuver to ensure that future regulations and technologies are designed to meet their needs. Where do higher education interests fit into this equation? Panelists will discuss current proceedings before the FCC on whether IP-Enabled services such as Voice Over Internet Protocol should be regulated, whether making said services CALEA compliant is a realistic endeavor, and how the regulatory decisions made today can impact the future innovation of yet unforeseen Internet technologies.
