Abstract:To what extent do our perceptions of how colleges and universities "work" prevent us from finding new solutions to the problems that confront us? This article proposes that the predominant paradigm in higher education creates obstacles to the effective application of new technologies and argues the need to analyze the assumptions that dominate that paradigm to capitalize on the solutions that information technology offers.
