Abstract:Information assurance (or IA) is a term commonly used in government circles and as part of the information security curricula at the graduate and undergraduate levels. What relationship does IA have to the emerging role of college and university security professionals? What opportunities exist for partnerships between campus security officers and academics involved in establishing Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance? What are the best paths for training, professional development, and certification of higher education IT security professionals? This presentation will offer insights from the director of the National Information Assurance Training and Education Center (NIATEC) and chair of the National Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education (NCISSE).
