Abstract:Privacy and security have become major policy concerns, both within the halls of Congress and institutions of higher education. New legislative and regulatory proposals aim to enhance cyber security, curb spam, address identity theft, require privacy policies, amend the USA PATRIOT Act, and protect personally identifiable information, including Social Security numbers. This session will focus on the status of current federal legislation, prospects for future developments, and implications for institutional policies and practices.
