Abstract:

Mobile Computing: A 5 Day Sprint—Friday, April 29

From development and deployment to operation and support, mobile computing puts its own demands on campus IT infrastructure. Developers need appropriate tools, platforms, and test beds, and help desk staff and other support personnel need resources to diagnose and resolve problems. Behind all of this, mobile computing puts new pressures on cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity, data synchronization, and server and network performance, as well as architecture and strategy for authentication and security. Come together as we touch on the wide range of hardware, software, and network infrastructure components necessary to make mobile computing an effective addition to campus services. In this session, we'll hear how mobile infrastructure is being developed at the University of California at Berkeley.
