Its focus is to extend Internet connectivity, information, and information services throughout a vast region of the United States via collaborative development and deployment of network infrastructure, technical standards, documentation and training materials. In the process it has become apparent that the question of "datafication" is a multi-faceted and multi-phased function of separate and distinct communities of users. The project is funded by the National Science Foundation and began in the Fall of 1993. This session will report on the progress of the Rural Datafication project to date, including progress toward developing cost effective and scalable solutions suitable for national deployment via the use of large scale collaborative techniques. Issues such as project organization and mangement, multiple organizational co-ordination, and services to multiple communities of interest will be discussed. Paper presented at CAUSE94, the full proceedings of which are available through this Library as PUB1094. | | View this resource: | |
