SCALE-UP Project
| Title: | SCALE-UP Project (ID: CSD3833) | | Topics: | Learners, Learning, Learning Space Design, Teaching and Learning | | Origin: | Community Contributions (2005) | | Type: | Programs and Projects | | Abstract: | The primary goal of the Student-Centered Activities for Large Enrollment Undergraduate Programs (SCALE-UP) Project is to establish a highly collaborative, hands-on, computer-rich, interactive learning environment for large-enrollment courses. Educational research indicates that students should collaborate on interesting tasks and be deeply involved with the material they are studying. SCALE-UP promotes active learning in a redesigned classroom of 100 students or more. Project organizers believe SCALE-UP has the potential to radically change the way large classes are taught at colleges and universities. The pedagogical methods and classroom management techniques designed and disseminated by SCALE-UP are general enough, however, to be used with a wide variety of courses and class sizes at many different types of colleges. | | View this resource: | |
