Stage 3: Oh Man, How Do I manage All of These Digital Records? Roles!

Ted Bross, Associate Director, Administrative Information Services, Princeton University Once identity has been established and a digital record has been created, the tasks of security and service administration must be addressed. Roles can ease the burden of administration with appropriate categorical definitions and with automation of role assignment and transitions (e.g., admit to enrolled student to graduate to alum). Roles enable consistent allocation of services and administration of security privileges. In this presentation, the concept of roles and role management and its practical uses will be discussed.
