Abstract:

The Student Guide is a set of questions that helps prospective students and their parents/guardians assess an institution's computing and IT environment in easy-to-understand language. Questions are organized into four categories: Academic Experience, Administrative Experience, Student Life, and Services and Fees. The Guide covers such information technologies and services as distance/distributed learning, technology-supported collaborative learning, classroom technology enhancements, wireless networks, taking care of business online, security and identity theft-prevention strategies, FERPA rights notification, peer-to-peer file sharing policies, and more. The Guide comes in two forms: a print brochure and an interactive Web site.
