| Title: | The Advanced Learning Center: A Partnership between Academic Affairs and Information Technology to Support Faculty in Infusing Deep Learning into the Classroom (ID: NLI0314) | | Author(s): | John Haddock (The University of Memphis) and James I. Penrod (The University of Memphis) | | Topics: | Faculty Computing Support, Faculty Development, Faculty Partnerships | | Origin: | ELI Meetings (2003) | | Type: | Presentations and Seminars | | Abstract: | This session presents the Advanced Learning Center, a faculty-support unit designed to successfully implement a campus-wide technology fluency model, a deep-learning initiative, the design of online and Web-enabled courses, and delivery of other academic-oriented services. The center is unique in that it was formed by a partnership between Academic Affairs (the Provost) and Information Technology (the CIO). The center reports in a matrix fashion to the executive officer of each department; the CIO provides day-to-day oversight for the center's staff and the Provost provides budget oversight. A faculty-oriented advisory committee helps prioritize projects. | | View this resource: | |
