Abstract:

Mobile Computing: A 5 Day Sprint—Monday, April 25

From staying one step ahead of emerging and evolving platforms to determining the best apps for learning, few concepts dominate the conversation in higher education today like mobility. Why has the mobile revolution transfixed our students, our IT departments, and our conversations around the boardroom table? And how can we, as a community, forge ahead? In this informal and interactive conversation, Joanne Kossuth, vice president for Operations and Chief Information Officer at the Olin College of Engineering, and educational technology blogger Alan Levine, former Vice President Community & CTO for the NMC, will kick off a week of dialogue around mobile computing on campus, trying to break down why mobility has become a burning issue on campus and what key challenges lie ahead.

I cannot watch from my iPad because my device does not support Flash.  Could not even post a comment until I termserved to my Windows PC.  we have a long way to go.

This problem highlights the fact that mobile computing has to do with the mobility of users and access to technology, rather than focus on the device. And to succeed, both in mobile education and enterprise applications obviously must be cross-platform tools and do not depend on a passing fad or an addictive gadget.
