Abstract:The deep divide between the hard science and the soft humanities is a serious issue with far-reaching ramifications. The notion of enacting knowledge can help mitigate the problem, as it serves to harden up the soft disciplines by requiring them to mingle their learning with social life. At the same time, it softens up the hard disciplines by encouraging them to make common cause.
