Abstract:An intelligent agent is software that can act independently to accomplish tasks on behalf of its user. In this paper, the author presents a scenario for the future use of intelligent agents in the provision of student administrative services, a description of various categories of intelligent agents, a brief history of research in intelligent agent technology, and examples of intelligent agents on the World Wide Web.
