Abstract:Syracuse University has embarked on a project to move all of its administrative computing applications from a mainframe to a client/server environment. This article examines and evaluates the cultural initiatives that became necessary in the technology transition, such as restructuring the IS organization, retraining existing technical staff, training clients, and finding new ways to do business with IS clients. This article is a revised and updated version of CNC9444.
