We strongly encourage state networks CEOs to have their security point of contacts to join the state networks security listserv and participate in professional development activities. To join the StateNets Security listserv, send an e-mail with the name of your state network and title to Stacia-Ann Chambers. Please be advised that this listserv is for state network employees who are responsible for network security. Contacts
Professional Development ActivitiesSecurity Professionals Conference 2007 The Security Professionals Conference, sponsored by the EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Computer and Network Security Task Force, will bring together IT security officers and practitioners from across the higher education landscape. The 2007 conference will include keynote speakers, preconference seminars, poster sessions, and track sessions that address technical solutions and management issues, including security training and awareness, as well as security policies and procedures. Information for this event has not been posted yet. If you are not subscribed to the statenets security listserv, please check back soon. Security Video PresentationsThe StateNets Security focus group hosts quarterly video discussions featuring policy and technical experts from government, industry and education networks. After an initial presentation from the invited speaker, the remainder of the time is devoted to candid discussion. Previously discussed topics include the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) and the experiences of William F. Pelgrin, Director of New York State's Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure. Special thanks to OARNet for providing technical support. |
