Special Advisory BodiesSpecial Advisory Bodies provide guidance from senior leaders in the profession on major initiatives. Members of special advisory bodies are appointed separately; these bodies are not part of the association's volunteer process. The EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Computer and Network Security Task ForceThe EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Computer and Network Security Task Force was established in July 2000. The Task Force is working to improve security awareness among the EDUCAUSE and Internet2 memberships and throughout higher education. The Security Task Force actively promotes effective practices and solutions for the protection of information assets and critical infrastructures. The Security Task Force is coordinating its efforts on behalf of institutions of higher education with the support of the Higher Education Information Technology Alliance whose members include the American Council on Education, Association of American Universities, National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges, American Association of State Colleges and Universities, National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, and the American Association of Community Colleges. The EDUCAUSE Network Policy CouncilThe EDUCAUSE Network Policy Council (NPC) strives to understand the full range of network and telecommunications policy issues confronting the research and education community, to enhance the capabilities of this community to manage and respond to these issues, and to work in a collaborative fashion to catalyze the community's formulation of a coherent policy message.
