Student Life Question 3.1 Details
What public access for computing is available to students? Examples include computing labs, cyber cafes, residence hall computers, and wireless access.
Even with more students owning personal computers, not every student has the resources to purchase one, and all students are likely to need public access facilities at some time. Public computing facilities such as libraries, residence hall clusters, computer labs, and cyber cafes often are important campus gathering places. They provide opportunities and a place for academic and social interactions. They often also provide access to other important technologies such as high–speed network connections, printers, scanners, and specialized software.
Find out where on campus you can access public computers that are connected to the Internet and/or the campus network. When are these facilities open? Are they staffed with technology help assistants? Is there a high demand to access these computers?
