| 1. | Will there be computers with Internet access at the conference? |
| | Computers from multiple vendors will be available for use by attendees on the first level of the Convention Center. These kiosks will provide up-to-date information about the conference and will allow attendees to send messages to other attendees as well as access campus e-mail via the Web or telnet. Access will also be available for laptop users via RJ45 and wireless network connections. There will also be printers for attendee use in this area. |

| 2. | When will the kiosks in the convention center be available? |
| | The kiosks, laptop tables, and wireless access will be available starting early morning Monday, October 18th through approximately 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 22nd.

| 3. | Will printers be available for attendee use? |
| | There will be printers near the e-mail kiosks on the first level of the convention center. |

| 4. | Can I connect my laptop to the Internet from the conference? |
| | Laptop tables, located on the first level of the Colorado Convention Center, will have RJ45 connections that will allow you to connect to the Internet via your Ethernet port. Your laptop should be equipped with an RJ45 jack. If your Ethernet card requires a dongle, be sure to bring it with you. A DHCP server will provide IP addresses and the other networking information necessary to connect to the Internet. If your computer is not set up for DHCP, check with your local technical support before coming to the conference. |

| 5. | If I am bringing my own computer, what steps should I take before I arrive at the conference? |
| | Make sure your virus detection software is up to date.
Make sure your computer has the latest software patches installed.
Understand that connections to the Internet will be on a public network with many different users and computing platforms. Some of those systems may be infected with undesirable worms and viruses.

| 6. | What steps has EDUCAUSE taken to protect the conference network? |
| | Network traffic in the convention center will be separated onto different networks to help isolate any potential problems.
Some network ports and services known to be used by potentially dangerous applications will be blocked to keep these applications from infecting computers on the network. Blocking these ports may affect certain types of connections back to your campuses.
We reserve the right to deny network access to any machine that degrades overall network performance or attempts to spread viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and the like.

| 7. | Will there be any ports/services blocked that could cause a problem with connecting to computers outside of the convention center? |
| | Yes. In an effort to reduce the potential of harmful applications propagating on the network, the following ports and services will be blocked.
Deny all ICMP
Deny Vulnerable Protocols on ports – 135,139,402,445,1434,4444
Deny UDP netbios
Deny UDP netbios-dgm
Deny TFTP

| 8. | Are there modem lines available for me to dial to my local ISP? |
| | We will not be providing modem lines to connect to the Internet in the convention center. If you only have a modem connection you should plan to connect to the Internet from your hotel room phone. |

| 9. | Will there be wireless networking at the conference? |
| | 802.11b/g wireless networking support will be provided in limited common areas of the convention center. The network will be an open network with a name of EDUCAUSEAIR. If your computer is set up to look for a specific network name or SSID you may have to replace that name with EDUCAUSEAIR in your configuration. Please check with your local technology staff about how to configure your wireless connection before you come to the conference. Wireless networking will not be available in the meeting rooms. Please respect the speaker and other attendees by refraining from using network devices, PDAs, and cellular telephones in the meeting rooms during sessions. |

| 10. | My campus won't allow me to send e-mail through the campus server from an off-campus IP address. What is the SMTP server name for sending e-mail? |
| | EDUCAUSE will provide an SMTP address for outgoing mail from your personal laptop if you need it. The address will be determined when we are on site. Check back here for the actual address at the start of the conference. |

| 11. | Are there any services for my PDA? |
| | In advance of the conference you can use the EDUCAUSE Itinerary Builder to create a custom itinerary of the events that you wish to attend. You can also add your own personal events and then download your personal schedule to your PDA. Just follow the directions on the Itinerary Builder page.
You will be able to beam conference information (including an exhibitor list, exhibit hall and Denver maps, and program schedule) to your Palm OS or Pocket PC device from beaming stations located near the Registration area on the first level of the Convention Center.
The conference newspaper will also be available each day for downloading to your Palm OS device. Simply follow the directions at the beaming station to receive your daily conference news. |

| 12. | I am a track session speaker. What technology will be available for me? |
| | Each track session room will be equipped with a Windows-based machine. Microsoft PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, and Netscape Navigator will be loaded on each of those machines. The computers will be connected to the Internet. If you plan to use the computer that we provide, you must stop by the Speaker Staging room where an identical computer system will be set up. We will help you transfer the presentation from your laptop, diskette, CD-ROM, or zip drive to enable you to use the supplied computer in the meeting room.
If you wish to use your own computer and connect to the Internet, you will need to connect it to the conference network via the RJ45 cable located near the podium. Your computer will need to be set up for DHCP. Additional instructions will be located at the podium and in the Speaker Staging room. Please make sure that you confirm that you can connect to the Internet with your laptop well in advance of your presentation. |

| 13. | I am presenting a poster session. What technology will be available for me? |
| | If you requested an Internet connection through the online form, we will provide a single cable with an RJ45 connector on your table. Wireless connectivity will also be available with an SSID of EDUCAUSEAIR. Your computer will need to be set up for DHCP. Additional instructions will be located on your table and in the Speaker Staging room. Please make sure that you confirm that you can connect to the Internet with your laptop well in advance of your presentation. |
